For the chalet, 2 day i night only la. During the day we can still do whatever you want for the outing. Then evening bbq, or dinner somewhere. if we decide to have chalet its on 16 and 17 june alright?

Anyone not free on those days? its a monday and tuesday.

I was thinking DOWNTOWN EAST costa sands, cuz it just opened. Then at night also got things do to there. GOT CINEMA ALSO!! Then next morning we can leave.

What do you guys say? If you agree i can book now!! haha.

For one night it should be about $145 without bbq pit. I think maybe then dont need bbq la.

So if not many wanna stay over might be hard to cover cost also...hmmm....

AIYAH, i now have 2 ideas what do you think.

Just wanted to give ya'll a SHOUT!

Haha, no la im not angry(being lame.)...it's to encourage you guys. This year has really opened my eyes, you guys are always in the middle of things, homework keeps coming like a never ending tsunami. I hope you guys will continue to keep the pace, don't give up!

I also know its very hard and tiring and people are constantly thrashing your morale and telling you it's not possible. On one hand we know it's reality, on the other we still can't quite believe it.

I won't understand what you are going through until i face it myself next year. I just want to say push forward guys! We(and i think i speak for alyya and alphonso as well) as your previous classmates want you guys to do your best, and we're always behind you no matter what!

And even though it seems as though we have our new classes and new friends, there isn't a day that goes by when we don't think of 1A02 '07.

:) Go for it guys, don't doubt your own abilities, you may even surpass your own expectations and surprise yourself!

from wad i noe the musical date is the first day of holidays, should be saturday.
its one of the most ideal day for overnight outing.

heres the thing, desmond and gang had planned an outing and im not sure if our class is having one or not. if our class have it den i'll not join them alrdy.
if majority of the class can go for it and CONFIRM can make it, we'll den plan for it together.

Okay before i get started i just wanna say this--

the next time you want to actually LEARN something in Mr Yew's lecture, read your notes before hand. that way you'll understand all the weird allegories and examples he uses in order to create links between seemingly difficult concepts. like how today he was telling me how the myth of SEA's economic progress was like the school pond and the AFC was the rain and the the IMF were like the fishes in the pond. haha.

Okay so i went up to Mr Yew and Mrs Teng for clarification on the Asian Financial Crisis Question, which is

"The Asian Financial Crisis (1997-1998) exposed the myth that Southeast Asia was a region of rapid growth and progress. To what extent do you agree with this statement?"

This was the notes they gave, non?
TS1: Some evidence of real growth (not a myth)
TS2: Some critics of nature of growth in SEA (myth)
TS3: AFC exposed how SEA's asset inflation had come about because of bank's bad lending (myth)
TS4: AFC highlighted how China's rise and American dollar had weakened the SEA nations' economies (myth)
TS5: Singapore showed how there was real growth in spite of AFC (not a myth)
TS6: How AFC could also be understood as a result of inappropriate policies (AFC did not expose the myth)

so my questions were:
1. Why did you give the answer scheme as a balanced essay?
2. Isn't TS6 irrelevant?

Here's Mr Yew's and Mrs Teng's answer (severely audited with analogy and mutterings removed):

Yew in response to Q1:
Even though there are 3 paragraphs on "myth" and 3 on "not a myth", the number of paragraphs are NOT indicative of the argument's direction (does not show it is a balanced argument) as TS2, 3 and 4 are used to qualify TS1-- all four topics of which are relevant to all SEA countries. Even though Singapore takes up one whole paragraph, as stated it is an EXCEPTION (unplanned occurrence) due to entirely different reasons.

Teng in response to Q1:
Also, since TS2 directly qualifies TS1, TS1 is no longer relevant and thus the essay is no longer "balanced".

Yew in response to Q2 (Mrs Teng literally ran away for Marcus' consultation):
The question, if analysed properly, holds 2 criteria. First, whether or not rapid economic progress in SEA was a myth or not. Second, whether the AFC did or did not expose this myth. While it is relatively easy to say that "Yes, the AFC did expose the myth of SEA's rapid economic progress", such an interpretation is relatively shallow in comparison to an essay which analyses that the AFC exposes not only TS2,3,4, but also TS6-- the bad policies of IMF.

Iraqi police killed by US forces

Feb 16 - Three Iraqi policemen are killed when U.S. helicopters opened fire on a local police unit south of Baghdad.

The U.S. military said helicopters opened fire with rockets after coming under small-arms fire early on Friday at Jurf al-Sakhar, 85 km (53 miles) south of Baghdad.

Members of the unit said they fired a warning shot into the air when they saw a force approaching their position. The incident took place as the Iraqi government announced a significant reduction in the number of militant attacks in Iraq.

the food is catered so everyone must come and finish the food! the caterer is some company we havent tried before, so i cant guarantee how nice it will be. but it cost abt 400+ bucks so i dont think it will be that bad la k.

the food is halal so all muslim people must come! the dog, either will be sent away or locked in one of the rooms on the third floor. my parents dont wanna send it away cause we cant afford him to go blind in the other eye so yah..

With the help of the Zombie Loan loan office, they were given a second chance at life, they be able to pay for their debt by doing the work of Shinigami and killing malicious zombies. Today Deb, Ting Xin, Kai Xiang, Zarifah, Sarah and me arrived at Maryam's door UNANNOUNCED.

I bought CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE from polar.

Blow out the candles! It was rather hard to light, her place is windy.

And cut the cake.

Then we ATE THE CAKE, and maryamon served us lunch and some weird concoction. (Actually it was just punch.)

While we weren't watching the balloons decided to go for a swim.

Then we remembered a scene from the movie 'ENCHANTED.' If you've watched you would probably know. "a-A-ahh."

Unfortunately Ting Xin had to go home first.

But then for some strange unknown reason she came back. (She's in the background walking back inside. Actually she forgot to say bye to Maryam so she came back.)

Then we watched 2 movies, Saw and Uptown girls. And that was it.

Makoto Konno, a girl attending high school in Tokyo's shitamachi, gains the power to go back in time and re-do things (the time-leap) when she gets involved in an accident at a train crossing one day.

A little bewildered with her new powers at first, Makoto uses them extravagantly to avoid being tardy and to get perfect grades on tests. However, things begin to turn bad as she discovers how her actions can adversely affect others. Along the way, Makoto's aunt, Kazuko Yoshiyama, offers some advice to her niece, with the hint that she herself had done something similar in the past; Kazuko is the protagonist of the novel, The Little Girl Who Conquered Time.

Makoto discovers that she can only leap through time a limited number of times. However, she ends up using up more of her leaps to recklessly prevent undesirable situations from happening, including a confession of love from her friend Chiaki. Unfortunately, in her attempts to make things right for everyone, she ends up impulsively using her final leap to prevent a phone call from Chiaki asking how many times she has leapt through time. As a result, she is unable to prevent her friend Kōsuke and his girlfriend from getting killed in an accident that would have originally happened to her. Devastated and deeply regretting her actions, time suddenly stops and Chiaki reveals a startling secret.

He is a traveller from the future and leapt through time in order to save a painting being restored by Makoto's aunt since the painting has been destroyed in the future. However, he has used his final leap to prevent Kōsuke's accident and has stopped time only to explain to Makoto what the consequences will be. By revealing to her that he was the one who brought the item that allowed Makoto to leap through time, he must disappear from her life. She finally realizes too late that she loves him as well.

True to his words, Chiaki disappears when time begins again and Makoto is visibly upset. As she tries to come to terms with losing him, she discovers that she can still make one final leap through time. Returning to the day she got her powers, she manages to restore Chiaki to her time frame. However, she reveals everything that he told her in the future concerning who he is, the ability to leap through time, and his intention to remain in her time frame. As a result, Chiaki must leave her time-frame and return the future. i just finished watching it. its a quirky twist to a love story/and special ppl wif unusual powers thing. its really quite sad or at least i felt sad after watching it la lol. in my opinion its really worth watching cos the storyline is quite interesting and it also has some morals thing goin on, like dont waste yr chances stupidly and don't do things you'll regret and stuff like that.

Haha, i just read an article in TIME and got all excited because he was compared to Shakespeare. His works could be even better than Shakespeare if society had not shunned him. It was because he was different, his style was more direct and impactful...perhaps even to the point of crudeness?

later on, with dongbin as our entourage, qibi, jiayi and i went to mustafa and the night market. food was great and even though it was a hell of an experience, my camera didnt have enough battery T.T boooo.

and al, jacq, qibi (duh) and i stayed all the way till 5 oclock in the morning the next day! :))

oh man its so late already but i promised to upload all the piccies that i took for today's miniclassouting. so here goes. x)

anyway we actually headed to Hougang Mall after the stupid Chinese exam but not everybody wanted to continue shopping after that. in the end only Jacq, Sarah, Jaja, DB, Alphonso Kong and I were left, so we headed to vivo to cheeeiiill. actually we went into forever21 to shop for a while first, but it was damn dissapointing and the only dress i tried on was too big and my boobs were practically swiming in them. bahness. then we headed to a.d.i.d.a.s.

Then afterward for no good reason we went to Daiso where we had the time of our lives. HAHAHHA.

OK. SO OUR CLIMBING EXPEDITION AT CLIMBADVENTURE IS SET TO BE THIS THURSDAY, 1ST OF NOVEMBER. ANY OBJECTIONS?

What MAY suck is that the Rocmoc team MAY be going there on Thursday too for self-training. BUT even if that happens, we can occupy the last climbing hall to ourselves and my team mates can help belay us and provide us with free belaying devices.

OK HELLO AGAIN PEOPLE. I am so sad that I've been missing so many class outings thanks to training. So anyway, remember my plan to take you guys out for rock climbing? Our trip to ClimbAdventure will probably be next week or the week after. Definitely before the dreaded supplementary classes in any case.

I also noticed that Adventure is usually crowded on Fridays(because entry price is only $2.50.), weekends and in the afternoon. So we should avoid these days and times.

Since rocmoc people and maybe other ccas have training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, I was thinking we should go on a Tuesday or Thursday. Please comment on the tagboard regarding which day you want to go. We need at least 8 people to go to get the discounted entry price of $4. If not, it's $5. This is excluding the price of equipment. Harnesses is at $3 each(3 ppl share 1? ROCMOC PPL GO DRAW HARNESS BEFORE GOING.) and belaying devices is at $2 each. We can share harnesses so don't worry about the price of the equipment too much.

The paper starts at 8.00am on Monday. SO, please reach school at least half an hour before the paper ( 7.30am)
